FEMALE FIGURES – Mannequins and Sculptures from 16th to 20th century
On the occasion of Milano Art Week 2024 Alessandro Cesati Gallery is proud to announce the exhibition FEMALE FIGURES – Mannequins and Sculptures from 16th to 20th century. The classic great theme of the ‘female figure’ is explored through a special and captivating selection of Italian and European mannequins and sculptures from the 16th to the 20th century, made of the most different materials such as wood, wax, marble and bronze. A short itinerary animated by three-dimensional works that, moving between the universe of the sacred and the profane, aims to highlight some of the infinite formal and iconographic solutions, elaborated by artists over the last five centuries, in an attempt to represent in a personal way one of the most ancient and recurring artistic subjects such as the woman, in an often subtle and sophisticated balance between respect for tradition and the search for an unprecedented modernity.
